Meet Lacey Studholme, Principal of CMS
Meet Lacey Studholme, Principal of China Middle School!
What are you most looking forward to about this upcoming school year?
I am so excited for this new role as Principal this year! I am most excited to try and create positive middle school memories for our students in the Principal role. The middle school years can be challenging at times, but when you have a community of adults that care deeply about the wellbeing of students, wonderful things happen!
What’s your favorite thing to do over the summer?
My favorite thing to do over the summer is to spend time with my family and friends. The school year is so busy! I really enjoy the time to slow down and have days to do whatever we want and not be driven by all the schedules. Each summer, my family and I travel someplace new. We love exploring new places and cultures. This summer we visited London, England. It was absolutely lovely! 😀
Tell us about your family!
My husband and I have been married for sixteen years. We have two sons. Our oldest attends Erskine Academy and our youngest attends China Middle. We have a funny orange tabby cat named Milo and a very active aussie/border collie mix named Atlas. This summer we added a new puppy to our family. His name is Apollo. He’s a fun-loving aussie puppy that has kept us busy all summer long!
What is your favorite thing about being part of RSU 18?
The best thing about being a part of our district is the strong sense of community and collaboration that we share. These last several years we’ve experienced some unique and challenging times. I have always found that we support each other in tremendous ways through the best of times and the hardest. It’s a pretty special place and I’m thankful to be a part of it.
What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?
Students are the most rewarding part of my job! There is nothing more gratifying than witnessing the growth and transformation of students through the middle years. Seeing them develop new skills, overcome challenges, and achieve their personal and academic goals is so fulfilling. There’s something so special knowing that our efforts in creating a positive and supportive school environment contribute to their success.
Hands-down, the most challenging part of being at the middle level is navigating the developmental stage of adolescents. Each student is balancing their diverse needs and learning to navigate so many new things. While in middle school, students are undergoing significant changes, and it requires careful attention to support their academic, social, and emotional growth. Despite these challenges, our outstanding staff is dedicated to creating a supportive environment where every student can thrive and succeed.
