Meet Rob Moody, Dean of Students at CMS
Meet Rob Moody, China Middle School’s Dean of Students!
What are you most looking forward to about this upcoming school year?
Seeing all the smiling faces returning from summer break, meeting all the Middle School students, getting to know them as well as the Middle school staff, and hearing from the staff and students about their summer break. I cannot wait to have the school filled with energy and cheer. I am so excited to be a China Clipper this year and cannot wait to start the 24-25 school year!
What’s your favorite thing to do over the summer?
I enjoy playing golf. My wife and I enjoy hiking and kayaking. We also love being with our family, friends, colleagues and students. The most important part of my life has been developing positive meaningful relationships. I want to collect moments not things! The trust, mutual respect, kindness, honesty, commitment, care, compromise, and unconditional love that is in my life fills my bucket everyday in every way! Let’s continue to collect those moments!
Tell us about your family!
My wife of 35 years, Angela, is a middle school teacher at Hall Dale MS! I have two daughters, Renee, 4th grade teacher at Hall Dale Elementary School, and Kristy, Lead Occupational Therapist for Gallant Therapy in Oakland. I have an adopted son named Ryan who works at Hannaford in Southern Maine as well as two son in laws, Larry, Direct Support Professional at a Residential, and Aaron, Parks and Rec Director for the Town of Oakland. My grandson, Archie, is 3 years old and lives in China with Renee and Larry. He will be attending CPS in the near future! My Dad is still with us at 89 years young. He is a retired Principal at Monmouth Academy. He retired 35 years ago when I started my educational career. My brother’s daughters, Roxie and Tiffany: Roxie lives in Clinton with her fiancé and two kids, and Tiffany lives in North Carolina with her husband and two kids. My sister and her family live in Oxford, South Paris, and Florida. I have two nieces and a nephew. They have 5 kids with one more on the way! My best friend and furry buddy is named Fenway, who has been by my side for 8 years. He is a Border Doodle (Border Collie and Standard Poodle) and is attached to me as a service animal and will join us at school a few days a year.
Tell us something surprising about yourself!
My grandfather, Raymond Sampson, was part owner of Sampson Supermarkets (with my Great Uncle Richard Sampson) who sold 31 stores in 1966 to Hannaford. One of the reasons he sold the stores is to spend more time with his family. I was born in 1965 so I will take credit for Hannford expanding their retail presence in the State of Maine!
If you weren’t involved in the profession of education, what would we find you doing?
My plan before entering the military out of high school was to attend the University of Maine at Orono in the mechanical engineering program and play baseball. My dream was to play professional baseball but that dream was just that, a dream. I would most likely be working as a mechanical engineer but would not have met my wife (my soulmate) so I am very happy I went into the military and attended UMF to be a math teacher.
