Composing at CMS
On Jan. 31st 8th grader Grayson Podey entered his original composition for concert band in the Bagaduce Music Young Composers Competition and Festival. Grayson has been working on writing and editing this piece over the course of the year. Through this process, he has learned about melody, harmony, balance, and many other factors that go into creating a piece of music.
In April all submissions will be adjudicated by a group of Maine composers, and students will receive feedback about their work. We are so proud of Grayson for going above and beyond to create a piece for his fellow bandmates. This is the second composition that he has written for the CMS band, and we can’t wait for the premiere at our spring concert!
